SUMMARY FOR BLACK BULLET:

Black Bullet is being hailed by some as the rival series to Attack on Titan… If this is what counts as a rival, Attack on Titan might as well relax, because it’s guaranteed to win this hypothetical contest. Black Bullet holds the distinction of being one of the dumbest, most poorly-conceived shows The Other Side has ever encountered. With plot holes so baffling they defy human comprehension, and a good ol’ helping of pedophile fanservice, this is one show that ranks among the worst of the worst this season. Join the guys from TOS as they dissect everything that is so very wrong with this series, and why Attack on Titan might have grounds for a lawsuit.’

Yes! I was waiting for this one.

  • Wakashi

Honestly I was hoping you’d do an episode on No Game No Life since that was pretty much the SAO of last season in terms of people talking about it. Even this show was more redeemable than that, lol.

    • Emblyon

please don’t compare no game no life to sao.
that’s like comparing code geass to kill la kill.
I don’t need to go over sao’s problems thanks to TOS’s Sao podcast, but NGNL has funny likable characters, a plot, and is entertaining, even though it has a few fanservicy faults(and trust me season 2 will be no better, ive read whats out of the novels) the story is good enough to look past most of them.

      • http://electricsistahood.com/ VichusYotaru

You can compare the two, because they both have OP main characters! Blank never loses, and neither does Kirito.

        • Emblyon

Well sure, blanks not allowed to lose, but that doesn’t mean they’re op, blank is 2 people who cover each others weaknesses .
And they even look like neets unlike kirito.
Plus aside from games they are really weak when compared to just about every other character, take jibril for example, about 5% of her full power is I to split the sea and even put moses to shame.

          • http://electricsistahood.com/ VichusYotaru

If Blank loses at all on the show, then I’ll believe you. Maybe the ending will be that they do lose, but I don’t ever see that happening.

They look like NEETS? You must be kidding. They act like NEETS. They look like any other anime characters. Tomoko Kuroki from Watamote looks like a NEET.

Is Kirito even called a NEET? He’s a guy who just like VR games. He lives a normal life besides that.

Being “weak” in No Game, No Life doesn’t matter, because there is no violence allowed across the land. Having offensive abilities is not as important as being smart, or crafty.

        • Wakashi

Just from a very shallow level of criticism, SAO was at least pretty to look at and well animated. NGNL just hurts my eyes, and I don’t mean that in a funny way. The way the images are at 1000% hue levels all the time is very irritating to look at.
And since you brought up Kill La Kill, that series had wacky fanservice that was way too self-aware and cartoony to take seriously, but NGNL has that typical style of fanservice that’s trying so hard to make someone jerk off to it (I never got that vibe from Kill La Kill’s wacky nudity, but that’s my opinion).

Disappointed: I was expecting the scene where Satsuki was sexually molested by her mother.

          • http://www.cloudscratcher.com Cody Baier

That had more “wacky” TNA, but that would’ve worked, too.

            Crazy-wacky-incest!

          • http://electricsistahood.com/ VichusYotaru

They were just capitalizing on the popularity of “Precious.”

          • http://www.cloudscratcher.com Cody Baier

Based on the novel “Push” by Sapphire

This self-aware and cartoony show also had at least 2 rape scenes.

A lot of anime is pretty to look at. If you watch anime just for the art, OK. I’ve seen uglier anime that’s way better than SAO; that’s me.

  • Jahmere Durham

    WHY ARE THEY ALWAYS LOLIS?!

    • http://electricsistahood.com/ VichusYotaru

        • Devin Wolfe

          And?

          • http://electricsistahood.com/ VichusYotaru

“And” fucking nothing! I made a joke at the expense of Japan, and I’m done. Did you not understand that?

          • Devin Wolfe

Oh I understood it. Just though you would keep going nothing more.

With anime magic, anything is possible.

          • Cecilthedarknight_28

Well speaking of magic and science Tsukuyomi Komoe ” a 40yr old teacher” from, A Certain Magical Index comes to mind. Hell even the anti-hero accelerator mad a wise crack about it.

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kY19_J2KDCM

          • Devin Wolfe

“It is later assumed by Accelerator, upon meeting her, that Komoe was part of an experiment of finding a way to stop cellular aging, and notes that Komoe may be a testament to the success of the experiment. However, because of her mysterious appearance despite being an actual adult, Komoe is referred to as one of the seven wonders of Academy City. This has become an urban legend in Academy City, something that even she is quite aware of; that her appearance is because she is a product of an experiment in the Imaginary Number District.”

This is the explanation for that from the wiki.

          • Bonglorio

“Black Bullet is being hailed by some as the rival series to Attack on Titan…”

In what fucking dark corner of the internet did you read this kind of bullshit? If Black Bullet was at least approaching the popularity or praise that Titan got, I would somewhat understand. People don’t buzz about this anime.

    • http://www.cloudscratcher.com Cody Baier

Not everything’s about popularity. In this case, people are comparing it to AoT in terms of quality. These people are liars. In terms of popularity, it IS quite popular, and is one of the biggest shows on Crunchyroll as of now.

      • http://electricsistahood.com/ VichusYotaru

It’s not even a show with a novel concept. It’s loli buddy cop vs anime Joker. Feh. People like to conjure nonsense.

        • Devin Wolfe

/a/ didn’t even give it the time of day.

      • Cirrus

Hey Cody, if you want another glorious episode. There’s a little diddy called R-15. My friend made me watch it with her, along with the ova for part of her b-day celebration. It tested our friendship, and I need you to rip this horrible piece of shit a new one so that I may feel better knowing that I stuck it out.

        • http://www.cloudscratcher.com Cody Baier

It seems stupid, but not particularly horrendous.

          • Cirrus

Once you watch it, the more the insidious nature of it shows itself. And the lolis. The goddamn lolis.

  • Jarrett Beese

So I’m curious Cody you are getting close to your 100th episode Is there anything big planned?

    • http://www.cloudscratcher.com Cody Baier

      Kinda-sorta…

      • Jarrett Beese

        sweet

  • Kerberous

I’m actually surprised that you guys didn’t review Dragonar Academy. In Dragonar Academy, lolis get tentacle raped as soon as the 3rd episode.

    • http://electricsistahood.com/ VichusYotaru

That’s almost like reviewing Sharknado. Why review something that people know isn’t trying to be good?

      • Kerberous

Because it’s vile and easy to mock? I really doubt that any author would write this sort of over-dramatic crap without thinking it’s the best thing ever. Oh, and you could say the same thing about many shows reviewed on TOS.

        • http://electricsistahood.com/ VichusYotaru

Yeah, fish in a barrel. Where’s the fun in it? It looks like most other bad anime that’s come out. There’s nothing uniquely terrible about it, and it’s certainly not being praised by anime fans- other than the people who like boobs and lolis, and loli boobs.

I think that TOS would actually be bored and annoyed by it.

          • Kerberous

There’s nothing uniquely terrible about many shows reviewed on TOS. Pretty much everything has been done before. Terra Formars and Prison School are about the only things out there terrible in ways that you would not expect.

          • http://electricsistahood.com/ VichusYotaru

To TOS, they are. That’s what I get from the show. I hope I’m corrected if I’m wrong, but the mission statement of TOS is that they give their perspective on anime that other people are praising- and those people are wrong.

The number of people who think Dragonar are awesome are an extreme minority.

Really? How many podcasts talk about Miyazaki or Kill la Kill, for instance, like TOS does? I don’t know of a lot of voices who are speaking against stuff like that.

          • Kerberous

“I hope I’m corrected if I’m wrong, but the mission statement of TOS is that they give their perspective on anime that other people are praising- and those people are wrong.

The number of people who think Dragonar are awesome are an extreme minority.”

Every Dragonar Academy manga has been on the New York Times Manga Best Seller List for at least a week. Volume 2 was even nr.1 for a week. I don’t know how relevant that is, but pretty much every week the list is full of Attack on Titan, Bleach, Naruto…

“Really? How many podcasts talk about Miyazaki or Kill la Kill, for instance, like TOS does? I don’t know of a lot of voices who are speaking against stuff like that.”

Oh, I agree that almost no one ever speaks badly about Miyazaki or popular shows such as Kill La Kill. But once you review something like Astarotte’s Toy, almost anything else with lolis in it seems tame.

Oh, and I hope my comments don’t make me seem whiny. It’s just that I really am surprised that something as terrible as Dragonar Academy went under the radar when there’s so much to make fun of.

          • http://electricsistahood.com/ VichusYotaru

            ::DOES A SEARCH::

Yep, absolutely true. It’s a top-selling manga, which baffles me. How’s the anime doing, though? I don’t think it’s something people are buzzing positively about.

If TOS is going to review Dragonar, then they should review Queen’s Blade, Freezing, all of those shows that are basically the same thing, just with a different base premise.

          • Kerberous

“How’s the anime doing, though? I don’t think it’s something people are buzzing positively about.”

I don’t really know. I’m gonna wait for Funi to release it and see how people react to the obvious. I’m willing to bet that people will tell me that it’s “most highly recommended for the intelligent.” Someone on Amazon actually said that about Haganai.

  • Devin Wolfe

“a good ol’ helping of pedophile fanservice”

So a towel scene and a few overused jokes are fanservice now adays?

    • Cecilthedarknight_28

It’s been going on since the 80’s in anime but they primary stuck to ova’s not t.v. broadcast shows.

      • Devin Wolfe

Which was my point a few podcasts ago that this stuff isn’t new its just now we aren’t spoon fed anime that appeals to a western taste.
