SYNOPSIS
Butlers. There’s been some decent anime about them in the past couple of years, culminating with the rise and fall and then rise again of Hayate the Combat Butler. Mayo Chiki takes a cliched premise, with a cliched main character who has a cliched phobia that manifested itself under cliched circumstances and surrounds him with a sadist, a tsundere, and a gender bender story and……somehow makes it work. Jahmere reveals his disgust in the shows false advertising, Mike rants about Hayate the Combat Butler, the guys talk about how Japanese and American families are different when it comes to generational inheritance, Mike’s body pillow collection is talked about as is his generous selection of questionable yuri related content, men with gynophobia in anime are looked into, Jahmere reveals a shocking fact about how he reacts to a certain situation, an old song comes back to haunt Jahmere’s dreams, and the guys memories of High School are revisited.
