Jormungand really is the closest thing we have to Black Lagoon. The show has tons of badass female characters. One of the few problems I have with Jormungand is that it has tons of characters that it can’t properly develop in 24 episodes. It’s also not as well animated as Black Lagoon.

Just finished Space Dandy season 1. So many feels from that last episode. Never thought I’d feel sorry for a vacuum…Watanabe you did it again.
I’m still watching JoJo and Captain Earth, but of the summer season line-up, my top 3 so far are Tokyo Ghoul, Zankyou no Terror, and Barakamon. I want to catch up on Tokyo ESP but holy crap is it a Ga Rei Zero rip-off.

“I want to catch up on Tokyo ESP but holy crap is it a Ga Rei Zero rip-off.”

The same guy made both of them. One thing I’d say about Tokyo ESP is that it somehow has even more annoying characters than Ga-Rei Zero. That’s quite impressive.

The “Danganronpa” anime is one of the worst adaptations I’ve ever seen. It is a perfect example of how important a good director, and, by extension, proper execution, are to a show, and how much of a train wreck it can turn into without either. It’s mind-boggling just how wrong everything about the DR anime is; breakneck pacing, flat/boring infodumping, jarring tonal shifts, no characterization, animation that is an absolute eyesore, off-model character designs (a lot of which are traced wholesale from the original game’s sprites), poor sound directing (???? How do you even get THIS wrong?), video game mechanics completely copy/pasted INTO the anime itself… The list goes on.

The only positive things I can really say about the adaptation are A) the OP, and B) that it (somehow) managed to get me into the DR franchise in the first place.

Anyone looking to give “Danganronpa” a shot should just play the game, read the LP(s), or look up the walkthroughs all over Youtube. Keep a ten foot-long pole between you and the anime.
