Er, Sean, the thing you linked to in the show notes isn’t what I recommended.

This is what I recommended: http://kissmanga.com/Manga/KURO

  • Jimi Fender

I think Sean should just check out Liar Game its not an anime yet, but its a much better story about people playing games and also no one mentioned cha-la-head-cha-la or the Devil may cry opening

    • http://www.anime3000.com Sean Russell

I remember when the manga came out. It was pretty popular in the blogs.

  • Emblyon

I am being forced to watch no game no life as a dare similar to (but not as bad as) you with boku no piko.
I can say it has potential to be a great series, but as mentioned there are some…………. Problems.
Some scenes are great, some are really bad, some are LOL, others you just want to facepalm.
Some episodes have alot of ecchi some have very little.
If you can look past the flaws then its a good show, but make sure you’re not going to have someone walk in on you watching it.

    • Devin Wolfe

Who cares if someone walks in the room really its a cartoon.

      • http://www.anime3000.com Sean Russell

        I do.

        • Cody Baier

inb4 devin claims youre just programmed by the man

so lets take these mannequin parts down to to paaaaaark

          • Devin Wolfe

If someone wants me to feel ashamed or embarrassed for what I do, say, listen to, or watch then they most likely have some inadequacies they are trying to cover up or repress. And society is one of the offenders of this always trying to “fit a square peg in a round hole” so to speak. And this is being taught in mass and most people are blind to it.

          • Max-Vader

PEOPLE WHO LOOK DOWN ON YOU FOR WATCHING PEDO-SHOWS ARE JUST TRYING TO COVER UP THEIR INFERIORITY
SOCIETY IS FULL OF BLIND SHEEPLE WHO INVENTED THE CONCEPT OF “SHAME” WHICH IS TOTAL BULLSHIT

OBAMA IS GONNA MAKE US ALL GAY-MARRY ABORTED FETUSES

            WAKE UP AMERICA

          • Devin Wolfe

            “PEDO-SHOWS”

Do you have any proof and I emphasize the word “proof” that of that other than Loli in show=instant show for pedophiles, which is another word that seems to be thrown around like candy in our society anymore

“SOCIETY IS FULL OF BLIND SHEEPLE”

For the most part it is very few people question the status quo and thus become docile and blind to the world around them.

“CONCEPT OF “SHAME” WHICH IS TOTAL BULLSHIT”

I’v never understood the concept of shame as i’v never felt it and it baffles me that people seem to feel it over the most trivial things.

          • Emblyon

            you’ve never felt shame before?!
so you could walk down the street butt naked and feel nothing? really?

          • Devin Wolfe

Pretty much why should you feel shame from your own body?

          • Emblyon

for various reasons, including ones own complexes about their body.

          • Devin Wolfe

“including ones own complexes about their body.”

Most of which come about from society an extreme of this is
            bulimia.

          • Emblyon

btw cody i think i found your FATE/ ripper, i just stumbled across an LN called Fate/Apocrypha.

also i’ve heard you mention his name but can’t remember what you said about him, so what was your opinion on
Gen Urobuchi again?(he didn’t write apocrypha)

          • Cody Baier

He’s an awful writer, even by his own admission.

          • Emblyon

you at least liked one of his works though right? after all he wrote the black lagoon LN.

          • Max-Vader

After reading up on this, I saw that it’s merely a novel-adaption of the manga. I don’t think that counts.
Either way, Urobuchi is as horrible a writer as he is a person – in other words, his writing is god-awful.

          • Emblyon

in that case I apologize as i was unaware of that.
I had only noticed that one of the things he had written was black lagoon so i had only assumed.

      • Emblyon

        I too care.

      • Wakashi

There’s a very familiar term that labels people with no shame or sense of good judgement…reprobate.

        • Devin Wolfe

So without a sense of shame I’m a “bad” person? I think not, having no shame means I’m comfortable with who I am and when someone tries to shame me they look more foolish when they don’t get a reaction.

          • Wakashi

Well here’s a simple comparison that answer. Toddlers have no sense of shame until a good swat meets their behind. Toddlers are terrible people, I know this, because cousins.

          • Devin Wolfe

Punishments when I was a kid where just inconveniences that took time out of my day.

          • Cody Baier

            You’re trying too hard.

          • Devin Wolfe

I’m really not trying at all since I’v figured out how you work( through the hours of listening to you and reading how you conduct yourself in comments) its child’s play.

          • Cody Baier

Are you running for governor in Idaho?

          • Devin Wolfe

Nope just trying to open peoples eyes to bullshit.

          • Cody Baier

haha you seriously answered the question

          • Devin Wolfe

And that’s funny somehow to have a question answered?

  • Emblyon

The irregular at magic high was the series I was looking forward to this season. I read the LN and was really excited, and though its not 100% the same there as so few differences that I don’t mind.
And 7 EPs in and only 1 1/2 fanservice scenes so that’s good.

  • Wakashi

A few of my favorite anime openings: You Get To Burning (Nadesico), Staple Stable (Bakemonogatari), Puzzle (Welcome to the NHK), Summer Rain (Cross Game), and pretty much anything sung by Nakajima Megumi (i.e. Tamayura) and Kiyoura Natsumi (Spice & Wolf).

Obviously Tank is one of them, but that goes without saying.

    • Wakashi

Idk how I forgot to mention Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, but that show has some trippy openings; some of them are straight up uncomfortable to watch, but I like the music regardless.

  • Kerberous

Wait, did Viz mess up the JoJo manga that badly ? I thought they just changed a dog to a rat and some buildings.

    • Cody Baier

They censored the violence, and changed several names (the most moronic being changing Rubber Soul to Robber Soul, then changing Steely Dan’s name to Rubber Soul. Not to mention such gems as changing Devo the Cursed to Soul Sacrifice).

      • Wakashi

For people who REALLY care about the purity, you can buy the Japanese blu-rays. They even have subtitles! It’s only $60-$150 a pop for a couple episodes and some extras. Sounds reasonable.

        • Cody Baier

Considering Japan still uses the old model of selling individual sets of 3-4 episodes, that’s a resounding “fuck no”.

          • Wakashi

For some shows they do eventually get boxsets, but then you’re still looking at a $300-$500 pricetag. A lot of times they come with cool extras but never subtitled. That’s why I think it’s so stupid that Aniplex USA is trying to sell imported products to a mostly English-only audience when all the extras that the “hardcore” fans would be willing shell out the crazy cost for it can’t even read them. Ironically it’s usually cheaper to go straight for the imported release than through Aniplex USA’s stock of them.

          • Cody Baier

If there’s ever a subtitled import boxset, I may consider saving up for it. Until then, I got the good folks at Some-Stuff fansubs to give me my un-fucked-with JoJo.

          • Wakashi

If the manga wraps up soon and the anime adapts all 8 or so arcs in a timely manner, we may see an ultimate boxset in about 10 years, assuming digital distribution isn’t the only option for media at that point.

        • Kerberous

Not happening. In a way I’m glad that people in Japan still buy stuff at this price, but then I remember that K-On and the Monogatari series are some of the best selling series of the last decade.

          • Wakashi

As long as the industry has the money to make more original shows, I can live with other people buying up the otaku stuff.
Production I.G. is the only studio I can think of that has avoided otaku-focused shows the most, not counting all the back-up work they do for other studios.
I heard that Shinbo once said that an anime isn’t worth making unless it makes money. Well, he’s making money, lol. From a creative standpoint, he’s a villain in my eyes, but I guess he’s into money before art. I like some of his shows, but I kinda hate him as a human being.

          • http://www.anime3000.com Sean Russell

“You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”
Eventually hobbies become less interesting, especially when your responsibilities start to mount. Creating new challenges is a cure all for this, which usually translates to making money while doing what you love, like or tolerate.

  • Wakashi

So I’ve been trying to catch up on JoJo pt 3 and just finished episode 7, and now I know what you were talking about, Sean. Wft Japan, you pointlessly censor someone lighting a cigarette but oh a underage butt shot is okay. I don’t even….
Awesome stands in that episode though, despite how predictable the one in the second half was.

    • Cody Baier

They actually added all that child nudity. I mean, she was naked in the shower in the manga, too, but it wasn’t fanservicey and the Runaway Girl’s towel actually covered her in the manga.

Still pissed they put loli shit in my JoJo…!

      • Wakashi

So is the anime now a loser show for loser people?

Jkjk, it’s Japan (not the author), what ya gonna do.

    • Devin Wolfe

      I LUL’d at that scene.
