About the author

The ever-controversial shock jock of Anime3000, and host of The Other Side (alongside Andrew Erickson and Max-Vader), and frequent guest on the A3K Podcast. I think it’ll take me a while to get through this one.
not even 2 minutes in and my sides are splitting!

It was everything I wanted and more. It’s nice to know that, even when Cody’s unavailable, the other guys can step up and take charge.

Having Ano on this show makes me so happy

Way to one up ANN, guys. While they’re talking about how bad and sexist Trigun is, proving they’re philistines (I have a suspicion they’ve never even googled Original Sin) for the 100th time, you’ve actually interviewed a legend.

Kinda weird that Hideaki Anno thinks he is still working for Gainax, but he probably just forgot about his own studio Khara.

    • Well we learned from this interview the man is not well. In the least.

“While they’re talking about how bad and sexist Trigun is”

      I’m sorry, what?!

      • Kerberous
“Trigun is poorly animated. I have not seen animation this bad in any other anime from the 90’s. The story is a mess and convoluted. Vash is sexist because he “sexually assaulted” one of the Gung-Ho-Guns.

I’m not offended by the attempted rape in the Trigun movie, but I’m going to tell you why it’s wrong. Vash is sexist because he tried to touch the placeholder girl character in the movie.”

Those aren’t exact quotes, but I don’t think I’ve misinterpreted their “criticism” too much. That’s the conclusion that the man with the greatest critical mind in anime reviewing history, Zac Something, has reached regarding Trigun. First ANN podcast I’ve listened to in over 2 years, it did not disappoint in terms of laughter and facepalms.

JesuOtaku, of all people, actually praised the show, agreeing with Zac mostly on the sexist parts.

I really wish someone would translate the contents of that podcast to Nightow. Heck, I would do it myself if I knew he would read it.

        • Haha, oh my god this shit is spreading into ANIME journalism now!

God dammit, Berschy has become a caricature. A contrarian swimming in an ocean of Dunning-Kreuger. Does he really thinking hopping on the gender politics bandwagon is a good idea if you’re gonna be knee deep in the anime industry?! ‘Cause y’know, have fun playing that game in a medium known for its sexual cheesecake. Made worse by the fact that Japan doesn’t care, nor will the japanese kowtow to Twitter pressure.

Have fun with that headache, Zac, you cretin.

What makes it all doubly hilarious is, despite how intelligent Berschy tries to be, if the plot to Trigun, of all shows, is too complex for him to handle I think he might have tipped his intellectual hand. Because I’m pretty sure the 13 year olds who watched Trigun when it first hit the states could follow everything pretty easily.

Last time I’ll go off-topic, but think it’s worth it for the lulz. I take back everything nice that I’ve ever said about JO (not that it was much to begin with, I just thought she wasn’t completely insane).

JesuOtaku: They are a new Adam and Eve in the new Eden (which is also why he talks about Eden all the damn time.) I’m guessing that if Knives had succeeded in turning Vash to his side, they would’ve exterminated humanity, and then re-assimilated with Plantkind or mated with them or something, and that would be Knives’ ideal world.

Nothing I can say is funnier than this statement. I think I was more coherent after staying up for nearly 2 days straight. And yes, she does say a lot of shit about religion being an important part about Trigun in the podcast… It’s still nowhere near this ridiculous.

Wow, what an insightful interview! I’ve never been so amazed by the creative process of an artist. A living legend.

    Called it on the fleshlight.
