SYNOPSIS
Gundam is a hell of a franchise. Ranging from 120 episode epics, to 6 episode masterpieces, theres a ton of content to sift through…and also theres a lot of subpar content to sift through. “Char’s Counterattack,” which chronicles the events after the “One Year War” of U.C. fame sees everyone’s favorite villain come back to give the victorious (but swelled headed) Earth Federation forces one last taste of battle and the hero from the one year war Amuro Ray’s effort to stop him. What follows is a 120 minute journey that feature stupid love triangles, meaningless deaths, the worse Gundam female protagonist of all time, and a conversation about space air….yep…”space air.” Strap yourselves in for this one folks, theres a lot of theory being thrown around in this episode. And also a Teen Titans reference. LET’S GO!

About the author

Hey guys. I'm Jahmere Durham, producer and co-host of the 2GAM podcast! I like watching anime (obviously), playing fighting games, and watching sports. Please continue to listen to the 2GAM podcast premiering every monday on the A3K network.

I’m sure amuro and char were enemys in the first gundam series.
Then in a later one(probably the one after) he went by a different name and piloted the hyaku shiki

    • SeinenNinja

That was in Gundam’s direct sequel, Zeta Gundam. In that, Char joined the main group, the A.E.U.G. under the name Quattro Bajeena.

Do you gentlemen think you could review Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade? It’s a movie from the late 90’s that I think doesn’t have the fanbase it deserves. If you’d like to review it and would like a copy for review purposes, I could loan you the movie. Just as an advance warning, it is a movie that has quite the slow pace.

    • Jahmere Durham

Jin Roh has always been on my “to watch” list. As I ve only consumed it over bits and pieces throughout the years. I’ll see If we can get to it this year.

      • Cirrus

Thank you for replying to my comment Mr. Durham, I have recently completed the list of podcasts from A3K after two long months of listening and your 2GAM is my favorite of the lot. I do very much enjoy your banter with Mr. Martinez and wish you the best on surviving School Days.

        • Jahmere Durham

          Thanks man. Appreciate you listening.

  • Jimi Fender

hey would you guys be wiling do a crossover with method to madness on one of these I think that would be really cool.

    • Jahmere Durham

Yea I’d do a xrossover with MTM.

  • Wakashi

This movie is a wrap-up of the original series that isn’t meant to be stand-alone. Watching 0079 and Zeta Gundam before going into this is recommended. This movie confused me the first time I watched it, and I also didn’t watch the shows first.

Any Gundam series tends to have that character that you want dead. I also applauded when Quess died, but Flay’s death was just made me the happiest person until they tried to redeem her character during the naked-newtype-in-space scene.

If you guys don’t want to watch the original series or compilation trilogy, you should check out the manga “Gundam: The Origin”. It’s a retelling of the original series but with more depth and some reasonable changes that make the plot more sensible. the book publisher Vertical is releasing the volumes out now and are up to volume 6.

      All this Gundam Theory!!!!

      • Wakashi

I think Tomino just hates women straight up. Since you mentioned that 0083 is your favorite, how do you feel about Nina Purpleton?

        • Jahmere Durham

          The hoe aint loyal.
