Opening: Ox – Let’s Go! (MadWorld Original Soundtrack)

One day, the boys of The Other Side found something on Steam. It was a game they weren’t quite fully convinced was real. It was a visual novel dating sim-slash-series of playable Wikipedia articles. Combined with the ridiculous dating sim archetypes and the fact that it doesn’t even end in any real payoff, they knew it would be worth subjecting themselves to for an episode. Listen as the trio go on a million and one tangents in order to desperately avoid reliving this inane experience, before begrudgingly reliving this inane experience.’

there is one good non porn visual novel but its from the 80’s

I guess I should say when I talk about VNs, I’m usually referring to the PC weaboo dating sim stuff. I always forget about stuff like Snatcher or Hotel Dusk. Mainly because those tend to have actual gameplay, so I don’t immediately think of them as VNs.

Technically I’m wrong, but I know I’m gonna keep on doing that until the end of time.

      • pop’s in what about stein’s;gate, higurashi, umineko or higabana?? VN’s that scifi, horror or mystery story telling instead of wanting to bone 4-8 random girls? You could even through the psp game corpse party in there as well but that’s a personal preference and it actually has game-play.

        • Max-Vader

Corpse Party? You mean that thing where a cross-dressing guy gets tentacle-raped to death, some girl wants to jump her brother’s bones and we get this delightful scene?
As far as Higurashi goes, everything we’ve seen of it indicates that it is as awful as it is convoluted.

          • Sorry I don’t really care for that material. The psp game corpse party released by xseed in the west. This is a remake of the indie game corpse, made in rpg maker for the pc 9801 for japan in 96. Your talking about the manga and corpse party book of shadows which aren’t relevant to my question. Those do in fact have the material you stated but I could care less since they are spin-off’s telling their own story and don’t connect to main one.

As far as highurashi goes yes it is a bit convoluted but not terrible depending on what mindset you go in with. It’s a horror/mystery series. You have to keep in mind everything happens for a reason and your the ones trying to figure out who committed the murders and disappeared 5 years in row and how it connects to the mass murder of 2000 people that year.

Yes even I’ll admit the content resets after every arc gets annoying, but your suppose keep looking for more clues from a different POV. If you don’t like it fine it was just a question I wanted to ask to show that not all VN’s are complete shit. I didn’t even like this VB but for different reasons of my own

Crimsoness is the best VN by virtue of being written by the Doom marine.

    $3 well spent

What’s your thoughts on the XBlaze Code: Embryo visual novel (the BlazBlue VN), now that it’s coming to America, Cody?

    • Derek Johnson

They’re making a Blazblue VN? Oh man, I gotta check this –,_51).png

Oh. Literally one of the first things I see on Google image search.

      • Wakashi

Lol when I read the url link, at first I thought it said “” which would be appropriate since the people going to that site looking for this kinda thing probably don’t get any nookie….now I got Fresh Prince of Bel-Air quotes stuck in my head.

    • Cody Baier

I’m cautious about it. I adore the BB canon and it’s overall larger plot, the novels are pretty good, but everything I know about XBlaze sounds terrible and not even important to the main plot.

Also the villain is a Diet Coke Terumi.

It’s a good thing I’m too old for this crap!

By the way, the Ginza district of Tokyo is akin to that of New York’s Time Square or London’s Piccadilly Circus. I learned this pointless information back in the 90’s from a college course I took all about Tokyo’s history!
