SYNOPSIS
If the 1st Stage of Initial D was meant to ease the viewers into the life of tofu delivery boy turned street racer Takumi, then the 2nd stage’s job was to take the happy life he’d built for himself at the end of the 1st stage and set it on fire. Laughing maniacally and flames engulfed and destroyed any hope the viewer had of thinking that this series was going to continue Takumi’s winning ways without any form of consequence. There are new villains introduced, Natsuki and Takumi’s relationship is further explored and Itesuki gets a woman. Initial D continues to not be the stereotypical shounen series however as this is not just a show about being unbeatable, as the 2nd Stage shows us, this show is about love and loss, and growing from a boy into a man.
