Son of Batman both sucks and blows. It is easily the worst DC animated movie (at least I can’t think of anything worse). One would think that the problem is that it focuses on one of the worst mary sues in fiction, Damian Wayne, but it actually has more problems:
    1. Batman needs to be saved from Killer Croc.
    2. Batman was raped and admits that he liked it.
    3. Damian Wayne is the most unlikeable Robin in history. Hell, he’s probably the most unlikeable kid character in history.

    4. Damian Wayne ruins almost any scene that he appears in.
    5. Ra’s super powerful ninjas can’t do shit.

    6. Deathstroke is not only a pussy in this movie, but BATMAN BEATS HIM IN 1 PUNCH… Batman literally punches him once and he is almost knocked out, then Deathstroke runs away. If this was the first time you saw Deathstroke, you’d think that he was a C list villain that got lucky the only time he accomplished something in the movie.

    7. Nightwing beating the crap out of Damian Wayne needed to be shown, not just heavily implied.
    8. The voice acting is mediocre at best.

    • thejade9

You said everything I wanted to say. So bad! For real, Deathstroke is the shit (so much so that Marvel ripped him off with Deadpool). If you watched through the ending credits, you’d see some of the fight between Nightwing and Damian Wayne. Man, Nightwing would’ve kicked Damian’s monkey ass all over the place. Damn, Son of Batman was baaaaaaaaad.

      • Cody Baier

Marvel didn’t rip off Deathstroke, Rob Liefeld did. And then other writers came and gave Deadpool a personality so removed from Deathstroke the only thing they have in common is their names.

  • Kerberous

Sean’s example doesn’t imply Shaman King. The spirits in Shaman King enter the Shaman’s body, enhancing their abilities and giving them decades of battle experience. Later on they just become a weapon. That is nowhere near “something appears and fights for them”.

  • Devin Wolfe

    “Like normal people” LUL.

    • Max-Vader

Don’t worry, that mean old Cody won’t take away your lolis.

      • Devin Wolfe

It still amazes me how you guys still claim normality when it differs from person to person and culture to culture.

        • Cody Baier

It’s easy when you’re not insane!

          • Devin Wolfe

Wouldn’t insanity be thinking your thoughts should apply to everyone?

  • Kerberous

A Steins Gate review would make for a pretty good Other Side episode, because it is the type of shit that wouldn’t succeed in any other medium: time machine microwave, stupid plot, smart characters that act like idiots, annoying characters that we’re supposed to like, horrible people THAT WE’RE SUPPOSED TO LIKE, etc. Don’t watch Steins Gate unless you plan to review it or something, you’ll just waste your time. Did I mention that Steins Gate was made by Nitroplus ? The same people that made Saya no Uta ?

    • Wakashi

“Did I mention that Steins Gate was made by Nitroplus ? The same people that made Saya no Uta?”

Forget about discussing Steins;Gate but if you were to bring up something unappealing that an anime-related company was involved in to prove that whatever comes from them sucks, well then every one of those studios must suck because none of them have a clean record. The closest one to having nothing embarrassing would probably be White Fox, but the only show they’ve done so far that I wouldn’t recommend to people would be the Sonico anime they just did. I guess it also helps that they’re a fairly new company.

      • Kerberous

“I’m just going to ignore most of what you’ve said and focus on the last while still saying absolutely nothing.”

Stein Gate doesn’t just suck because it was made by Nitroplus. It could’ve been made by anyone and I’d still say that it fails at pretty much everything it tries to do. It’s just that it’s easy to pick on Saya no Uta and the people that made it. I find it hard to belive that you could miss the point this badly.

And why are you bringing up animation studios in a discussion about VNs ? Animation studios can actually make good shows, but the people who make VNs couldn’t write something compelling if their lives depended on it.

        • Wakashi

You have a cute habit with making up sh*t that other people didn’t say or think.

“why are you bringing up animation studios in a discussion about VNs ?”

I read your whole comment, and the only part I felt like making a point on was the whole “this sucks because it’s by the people who made this” argument. I wasn’t focusing on Saya no Uta (never played it), just that type of stupid argument that I keep seeing online.

btw, you’re way of criticizing Steins;Gate….

“time machine microwave, stupid plot, smart characters that act like idiots, annoying characters that we’re supposed to like, horrible people THAT WE’RE SUPPOSED TO LIKE, etc.”

You say this but you don’t give any examples of *how your points are valid, and that’s why nobody with their own thoughts and opinions would find that blanket statement good enough to take your word for it.
          How is the plot stupid?
How do the characters act like idiots and/or how does that negatively affect the show overall?
In what way are they annoying?
          How are they horrible people?

I could copy&paste that same fill-in-the-blanks statement you made to any show, because it’s that’s simple/vague of a criticism.

That’s why I initially didn’t reply to that because it’s retarded, so there you go I guess, Happy Birthday.

“Animation studios can actually make good shows, but the people who make VNs couldn’t write something compelling if their lives depended on it.”

If that’s the case, no wonder why I had no interest in continuing BlazBlue’s story mode. The anime didn’t have a strong impression on me either, just felt like generic fighting show imo. The gameplay itself is fun though.

          • Kerberous

“You have a cute habit with making up sh*t that other people didn’t say or think.”

Ok. Have fun being an idiot.

          • Wakashi

Oh you’re leaving already? Oh well.

          • Kerberous

I tried… Then I remembered that I was dealing with someone that understands whatever he wants, and with an ego that would make Davin Sirlin proud.

  • Wakashi

I listened to the OP for Buso Renkin, and I didn’t really get any standout vibes from it like Black Lagoon’s OP. It wasn’t bad, just not unique. I’d say Bacanno’s OP was really addicting when I watched it. It was really helpful too, considering the amount of characters I had to remember in that show. Sadly, a lot of anime is just used as an extended advertisement for the source material while it’s still on its run, so having anime adaptation after the source material ends is even less likely.

I’m glad to here Cody praise Attack on Titan when I’ve seen many people recently turn it off just because of how “trendy” it’s become or whatever. The series has a lot of flaws, but if you’re watching it for the action and rising tension from episode to episode, it’s a lot of fun. I had a similar experience when I watched Madoka week to week, but I’m really glad to see that a show like AoT that doesn’t have that niche barrier to get through can be popular with both the otaku fandom and the mainstream crowd.

Speaking of shows to watch, have you guys checked out Michiko & Hatchin yet? It’s been out on DVD/BD since last Fall. It feels well at home with Bebop and Shamploo.

    • Emblyon

that reminds me, I remember being annoyed by the buso renkn op because at the end it had a scene which looked like a combination buso renkin but t never appeared in the anime which really bugged me.
I think mike said something similar about sao’s op

  • Emblyon

oh wow, gakuen alice now that brings me back, it’s probably been over 5 years since I last read it.
I think I had finished reading what was out and it took so long for the next one to come out that I just forgot about it, though I should probably start reading it again from where I left off.

  • Emblyon

has anyone seen or heard of the atrocity that has befallen the “nanatsu no taizai (the seven deadly sins)” anime adaptation?!
