REVOLUTIONARY GIRL UTENA:
Team Hashtag Nanashi is GO! Please allow us to introduce ourselves.
As a reset, Djm & Lilly Inverse met at Youmacon 2011. They’ve become good friends with COMPLETELY different tastes in anime. So what better way to get a better taste of each other’s interests than to pick out anime we both have seen or haven’t seen and watch them together?
We started doing Nanashi Anime Podcast in the second half of 2013 on Djm’s homepage, DeltaJulietMike.com…and then both of our IRL lives fell apart. But we’re back, and we got picked up by Anime3000. Huzzah!
In our reboot episode, we’ve got a Lilly pick—1997’s Revolution Girl Utena. What about this now-legendary deconstruction of shoujo inspired Lilly? How did the Deej react to Utena and all of its trope-trolling? Was he able to narrow down which characters were attracted to who?
All this and a little bit of talk about the symbolism and Revolutionary Girl Utena’s significance with LBGTQ anime fans on a long, long, long overdue new episode of Nanashi.
