SYNOPSIS
Gemini of the Meteor took all of the things that made the first season of Darker than Black one of the best series ever made, and threw some of the key elements out the window. The result is a second season that could’ve been groundbreaking, but instead felt a little half-hearted in it’s execution.
The second season introduces a bunch of new characters, each of which follows BONES studios excellent track record of giving characters interesting designs, and backstory. Unfortunately, the introduction of most of these characters felt like it was used to hide the fact that the series focus was no longer on Hei and Yins relationship, but instead focused on the Izanagi/Izanami angle.
That doesn’t detract rom the shows appeal, but it was kind of awkward to be thrown into this new setting and characters after the events of season ones finale. The soundtrack is excellent almost worth the price of the show alone, and viewers should still purchase this to finish the series if they liked season one. Just make sure that you watch the OVA before you start season two.
